Bobbi Brown Mineral Makeup SPF15 Review

Bobbi Brown Mineral Makeup SPF 15 in Medium

I've had the opportunity to try out the new Bobbi Brown Mineral Makeup SPF 15 Foundation. Take note that I have tried over twenty mineral makeup brands. Yes, I am a mineral makeup fiend. I love mineral foundation on my skin because it is the gentlest, purest, most unadulterated makeup there is. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, so even though I use liquid foundation during weekends or special events when I want my skin to be photographed well, I use mineral foundation during weekdays or times when I want a more natural look. That said, I was really excited to try Bobbi Brown's when I learned that they have a mineral makeup that just came out.

I have to say that I am usually a mineral foundation purist. I only want around 4-5 ingredients in my mineral foundation, and I don't like bismuth. I checked out the ingredients in this product and it was pretty extensive, so I was a bit disappointed. However, I knew I had to try it first to form an informed opinion. Bobbi Brown states that the super-fine powders in this formula are triple treated with glycerin, vitamins and skin softeners, and wear extenders. It has Vitamin C & E complex, glycerin and soybean extracts and ceramides, and Sodium Hyaluronate to help prevent dryness and caking. Okay, there are more ingredients than my usual mineral makeup, but they're not just preservatives but they work to help better the finish and slip of the product, so I wasn't that concerned. The real test is wearing it.

I applied the product on my skin using a flat top brush in two light layers, using circular buffing motions. I then spritzed my face with MAC Fix+ spray and buffed in the product again to blend everything. The result is a flawless, seamless, natural look.

I agree with Bobbi Brown's statement that this makeup still looks like SKIN. It covers imperfections, evens out skintone, and yet you still see skin, not caked-on makeup. If you have a lot of blemishes, you can make this makeup full-coverage by pressing the product into the skin with a powder puff. Build coverage accordingly using another layer of product using a face brush. For light to medium coverage, which I prefer, I use my flat-top kabuki, but I spritz with a hydrating spray to make the finish look more seamless and liquid foundation-like.

All in all, I am really liking this foundation. It is good for those who prefer light to medium coverage, and it's good for a wide range of skin types. If you want full coverage, though, it will require additional work. The thing I like best is the finish. It looks simple, natural, soft, and it looks like real skin.
