NYFW Nail Trends: Haven for Essie, Suno, EDUN and Prism

SAY HELLO TO AU NATURAL FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2012

This season, New York’s cult favorite pampering spot Haven Spa partnered with essie to bring color inspiration for some of New York Fashion Week’s biggest shows. While designers like Anna Laub of Prism stuck to deep, solid shades, the big trend for next spring is simple: subtle and natural.

SUBTLE & NATURAL

SUNO

The look at Suno’s SS12 show was inspired by the transition of a young girl becoming a woman. Creating a fresh, dewy look that still keeps an essence of innocence, Haven put their team to work to create simple, yet elegant nails that were painted in a sheer, iridescent pink shade: essie’s “Main Squeeze.” To make the fingers look more natural, the fingernails were painted one coat, while the toenails were painted with two coats. Both were finished off with essie Top Coat and Quick Dry Drops.

EDUN

The collection, which can be best described as fresh, light and airy, creatively juxtaposed iconic floral prints with a tribal African patterns – two contrasting, yet beautiful designs mixed to create a feminine, flirty look with an attitude. Simple, nude polishes were used on both the fingers and toes to capture the earthy essence of the collection, as well as to elaborate on natural beauty. A variety of nude shades, including essie’s Potato Fields and BBF Best Boyfriend, were used in creating the nail looks and were finished off with essie Top Coat and Quick Dry Drops.

PRISM

Inspired by the avant garde imagery from the 1970’s, the swimwear of Prism’s SS12’s collection was filled with punchy colors of burgundy, antique gold, dark green and burnt orange. To contrast the bold and vivid colors of Prism’s SS12 swimwear collection, nails were painted a slate grey shade with essie’s “Bobbing for Baubles” then covered with a matte top coat finish. The ring finger on both hands donned the brand’s emblem, a gold prism.
