OPI Touring America Swatches and Review

OPI has a bunch of new shades to herald the coming of fall in the Touring America collection. These new shades, especially the darker ones, are on the murky/dusty side, and I think this is the trend of fall colors these days, after seeing the Zoya and China Glaze fall collections. This time, OPI is all about America and all its quirky characteristics and unique landmarks, as opposed to just focusing on a particular city as it has done in the past. I have 8 of the 12 colors, and here are some swatches and thoughts on them:

My Address is Hollywood

My Address is Hollywood

This is a very pretty and feminine rose shade with gold shimmer. You can see the tiny shimmering flecks dancing in the sunlight. I am really liking this.

Are We There Yet?

Are We There Yet? is soooo pretty. I can't believe I almost didn't get this. It's a beautiful vibrant coral with gold shimmer. This screams summer to me, but can be also fall-esque due to the orange hue (fall leaves).

I Eat Maine-ly Lobster

Another gorgeous color. It is a vibrant fall-like orange, darker than Are We There Yet. It has beautiful flecks of golden shimmer.

Uh-oh Roll Down The Window

The name sounds nasty, but I read in a nail mag that OPI named this after that queasy feeling you get after getting pulled over by a cop. Is this a swamp green or army green? I like creams and some people don't like how it looks like baby puke, but I like it- very earthy and unusual in a sea of pinks, reds, and brown nail polishes.

A-Taupe the Space Needle

A-Taupe the Space Needle is not your usual cool taupe polish. This is on the warmer, greenish side. I like that this is not dupes of my usual taupes.

I Brake For Manicures

I think this is going to be one of the bestsellers of this collection. I Brake for Manicures is a beautiful dark midnight plum. I think this is the prettiest of the dark colors in this bunch.

Roadhouse Blues

Roadhouse Blues is a rich, deep navy cream. It is likened to Sapphires in the Snow, but I think the latter pulls purple and Roadhouse Blues is a definite navy blue.

Color to Diner For

Love this color! Very festive, and yet it is not a bright blue red. It is kinda muter with very lovely shimmer. One of my favorites from the collection.

The formula of these polishes is typical OPI Big-3-free. Thicker than the dreamy Big-3 OPI formula, but not as thick as the very-hard-to-work-with Hongkong collection. They are okay to work with and I didn't have problems in application, although I would like them to be a bit thinner in consistency.

As for the colors, I am liking some. My favorites are My Address is Hollywood, I Eat Maine-ly Lobster, I Brake for Manicures, Color to Diner For and Are We There Yet?. What is up with all the dusty, earthy shades for fall? Did the big nail polish companies agree to come up with these similar shades? I love murky, dusty colors, but right now I am looking forward to the festive, bright, sparkly Holiday colors. Bring them on!
