Sigma Bare Eye Shadow Palette Swatches and Review

I was able to try one of Sigma's new eye shadow palettes called Bare. I chose Bare over the other two palettes, namely Dare and Flare, just because Bare is the neutral palette and I will get more use out of this one. It looks very similar to the Urban Decay Naked palette, except that the front cover is harder and sturdier I believe. The packaging looks nice and not flimsy at all; it's hefty and heavy.

It comes with a built-in mirror and a dual-ended brush. One end has their E25 brush which is similar to the MAC 217, and on the other end has the E30 which is a pointier, bigger and less firm version of the MAC 219.

As for my thoughts on the brushes, I am liking the E25. It works just like the 217 for me, and it doesn't look flimsy or cheap. I used the E25 to apply my outer lid colors in the look below. It fits perfectly in my crease and it applies colors well and blends them seamlessly.

As for the E30, it is not a dupe of the 219. The E30 has a more bendable head as opposed to the 219's firm head, therefore, in my experience, the 219 is better in applying precise color on the lashline, or to smudge lines. The E30 is better in applying color on the outer V or for blending. Both have their own uses and I am actually glad they are not dupes of each other, because I own both and I will have different uses for each.

This was my first time to try the Sigma brushes and in my opinion they are quite good and worked well (at least these two that I've tried).

Swatches:

Shine, Control, Snoop

Snoop, Hitch, Act, Command

Snoop, Hitch, Act, Command, Elope, Approach

Command, Elope, Approach

As you can see, it has eight neutral-colored shadows that range from a very sparkly/glittery black (Shine) to a matte black (Control), to a satin cool grey (Snoop), to a Swiss chocolate brown (Hitch), to a satin taupey-brown that reminds me of MAC Patina, to a shimmery goldish-champagne (Command), to a neutral matte highlight (Elope), to a frosty yellow white (Approach).

I noticed that there are more outer lid/crease/liner shades in this palette than highlight or lid colors. That disappointed me a little because I am always looking for more choices when it comes to lid colors.

As for the texture of these shadows, I like the texture of the darker ones more than the lighter. The darker shadows are very pigmented, rich and apply well. However, even the lighter ones are pigmented and easy to apply. They don't apply as buttery as the other shadows I have, but they are quite pigmented and you will have good color payoff with these. As for how they look like on the skin, I will let the swatches speak for themselves.

Here is a look using the Sigma Bare eye shadow palette. I used Elope on the lid, Command on the lower lid, Hitch, Snoop and Control on the crease and outer lid blended using the E25. I applied Approach on the browbone and inner corners to highlight. It is a soft neutral look that I wore to work; very office-friendly!

Watch out for a smokey eye look using this palette!

All in all, I recommend this palette if you are into classic neutral looks, or if you want a bombshell smoky eye look for a night out. The colors are rich, pigmented, and easy to apply, and the dual-ended brush is a great addition. My favorites are Control, Snoop, Hitch and Command.

The palette retails for $35 and can be purchased at the Sigma website.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
