The Shielo Series: Volume Flexible Design Hair Spray and Smoothing Complexion Scrub Review

I was provided some products from Shielo, a hair care line that is being talked about in salons in NYC, and about to go national. This is obviously an asian brand and I am very excited to feature a series of reviews on these products. I chose the Volumizing products because I have straight, fine hair, so I would need all the help I can get to create some volume to my tresses. For this first part of the series, I will be talking about the volumizing hair spray and the facial scrub.

Shielo Flexible Design Hair Spray

I am used to ultra-hold hair sprays, so this is a pleasant surprise. The Flexible Design Hair Spray doesn't weigh down hair, but it effectively lifts the roots for a nice, full volume. It also doesn't create the cotton candy effect where the hair is all stiff and crunchy. It has medium hold that is perfect for my hair, but doesn't flatten it down.

I also like the appealing list of ingredients:

Key Ingredients

• Strong keratin and wheat amino acids to boost hair from the root.

• Soy Protein provides structure for thin or weak hair.

• Hyaluronic acid strengthens, conditions and replenishes hair providing flexibility and shine.

• Aloe Vera, Ginko Biloba, Witch Hazel and Biotin nourish the scalp and hair follicle for reducing hair loss or thinning.

Gotta love the last part the best; great for fine hair like mine!

One of the best features of this product for me is the scent. I love how fresh it is, which is typical of Japanese products. It is not the cloying scent that you usually smell in hairspray out in the market. I am glad that I use a product that has a pleasant enough smell that you can smell throughout the day.

Shielo Smoothing Complexion Scrub

The Smoothing Complexion Scrub is part of Shielo's anti-aging line. I thought that it's just one of the countless scrubs out in the market today, but the list of ingredients is interesting:

Contains non-irritating jojoba micro-spheres that will safely and gently refine skin to a new clarity. These micro-spheres are excellent for removing blackheads. Contains soothing Allantoin for comforting skin.

Aloe Vera Juice: Refreshing vitamins for skin health and renewed complexion.

Jojoba: Contains fatty acids that revitalize skin; this product contains jojoba microspheres which are small and delicate for a microdermabrasion effect.

Allantoin: Soothes the skin while reducing inflammation.

I really am pleased to see jojoba microspheres and aloe vera juice in the ingredients. I am a fan of jojoba oil so this should work well with my skin.

I like the feel of the product - it soothes my skin and exfoliates it at the same time. The spheres are not as abrasive as those of other facial scrubs. If you like those really abrasive, microdermabrasion type scrubs, this is not for you. However, I like the clean, fresh look of my face after using this product. As with the hairspray, the scent is very clean, fresh, revitalizing and soothing at the same time. It claims to lighten skin discoloration and stimulate cellular regeneration for radiance. I haven't used this long enough to see lightening of hyperpigmentation, but it did look like my skin was brighter.

The only downside I see is the price ($16.99 for 4 fl. oz), but I guess you are really paying for the ingredients.

All in all, I am really liking these two products from Shielo. I like the ingredients they infuse in the product, as well as the performance and the scent (I can't get over the fresh, clean smell). You can get these products at http://www.shielo.com/.

Watch out for Part 2 of the Shielo Series.
