Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor Swatches and Review

Courage

Fearless

I was able to try these new lipcolors from Bare Escentuals called Pretty Amazing. They are not actually your typical lipgloss but maybe more of a hybrid- a combination of lipstick and gloss, not only because it gives an insane amount of pigmentation in one swipe, but it has the high shine and luscious look that a lipgloss provides. You can probably say that these are like liquid lipsticks.

Swatches and review after the jump

I have mentioned in my previous entries that I am in love with anything that closely resembles liquid lipstick (like a lipstick melted in a microwave or under the sun or something?). I want to feel it gliding on my lips with saturated color and high-watt shine. This was the reason why I fell in love with MAC's Kissable Lip Colour in the first place.

Bare Escentuals' Pretty Amazing Lipcolor is no different. It is a marriage of rich pigmentation and high watt shine. It is a bit stickier than MAC's Kissable Lipcolour so they are a bit more long-wearing than the latter. They are housed in tubes with the very unique paddle-shaped flocked brush that is great for applying this kind of formula. It glides evenly and yields the perfect amount of product on the lips to cover them and create a nice, even, seamless application of color and shine.

L-R: Courage, Fearless

Fearless

Courage

Fearless is a rosy mauve that looks pink on my lips, and Courage is a warm strawberry that pulls corally brown on my skin, which I am not a fan of. I prefer Fearless and is one of my go-to lip color of late. It is office-appropriate and yet looks great with more adventurous eye makeup.

I love the pigmented, creamy finish. It feels comforting on the lips, and applies smoothly and evenly. Best of all, the luscious, high shine is just amazing.

I guess the downside I can think of is that you would have to moisturize your lips in order for it to glide more easily (well, this applies to almost all lip products anyway). Again, if you love pigmented glosses, this is for you. If you like your glosses sheer, stay away. I prefer liquid lipsticks so this is the product for me. I just wished they make more shades (they have eight so far, and not a lot to choose from). The range is very limited.

Pros: you would like this if you want full-on color and high-watt shine, applies evenly, good staying power, strong pigmentation, no strong or harsh scent

Cons: not very moisturizing, you will need a separate product to hydrate the lips, limited color range

These are available on QVC.com for $24 for a set of two lipcolors, plus shipping and handling.

My Beauty Review- I agree! Very pigmented!

VampiressDoll- I think some people didn't like it because they were expecting it to be a sheer gloss, so I had to show how pigmented these are!

Red Lips, Black Hair- thank you! I've always gravitated towards Fearless, but I'm glad you liked Courage!
