China Glaze Spring 2011 Anchors Away Swatches and Review Part I

Here are swatches of the first six polishes from the China Glaze Anchors Away collection. It has some of the prettiest and most unique colors I've seen for a spring collection. I never even knew I would like some of the shades that I've tried.

Life Preserver

Take for instance Life Preserver. It is described as a highly pigmented and luxurious poppy creme. It reminds me of Thanksgiving and pumpkin pies, which is unusual for a spring color. I used to not like orange shades because they make my skintone look so warm, but for some reason this looks really nice on my skintone. Definitely one of my faves.

Hey Sailor

Hey Sailor is a vibrant red cream that somewhat pulls orange on me. A very warm and not blue red, at least on my skintone. This is pretty though and would look great on the toes with sandals or strappy heels.

Ahoy!

Ahoy! is my top fave. It's described as an intense pink that flashes with reflective glass speck. This is undoubtedly the star of the collection. The color is more of a fuchsia-magenta that reminds me of my favorite lipglass from MAC of the same shade. The glass specks make this even more beautiful, it glistens remarkably when light hits it. Gorgeous.

First Mate

First Mate is one of my top favorites along with Ahoy!. It's a wonderfully rich navy blue cream. Application is a dream and it literally hugs the ridges and curves of my nailbed, like it applies itself. It wasn't streaky and it was a cinch to apply.

Starboard

Starboard is just like First Mate in formula, although First Mate is a tad easier to apply. It's a nice St. Patrick's day green, spring-y and bright.

Lighthouse

Lighthouse is described as a multi-dimensional, bright yellow glass speck. I am not really a fan of this as I am not too crazy about yellow polish. The glass speck formula is pretty unique though and lends a nice texture to the polish.

All in all, I am in love with the cremes and some of the glass specked polishes in this collection. The cremes apply amazingly on the nails, and they didn't streak. The glass-flecked ones are just a beauty to look at, and are dazzlingly eye-catching.

Watch out for the rest of the swatches soon!

Note: Media samples were provided by a representative of the company for consideration. All opinions are completely mine.

Somehow I'm drawn to Lifepreserver! Even though as you said, its not really a typical spring colour x
