EcoTools 6-Piece Brush Set Review

I am glad to once again review a set from one of my favorite brush brands, EcoTools. Way back in 2008, I first did a review of EcoTools which was a newly-launched brand during that time. Three years later, I still have not lost my admiration for the brush products. Check out My EcoTools Review. I quote an excerpt of my brush review below:

Everybody wants to go "green" or environment-friendly these days, but with the mainstream cosmetic industry offering few alternatives to traditional makeup and cosmetic tools, it's difficult to be a beauty enthusiast and environmentally-conscious at the same time. Until now. Did you know that the bamboo is a highly sustainable plant that can grow up to 4 feet daily? With such abundance of this versatile, highly usable plant, a company spawned the concept of an entire cosmetic brush collection made of bamboo handles and recycled materials that is as gorgeous as it is unique. EcoTools launches a collection of amazing bath and body accessories this month, as well as cosmetic tools that make it easy to go "green".

I love the Zen-ish appeal of this brush collection. I love, love the bamboo handles, they look so classy and expensive, and I did a double-take when I saw the prices. Aren't those reasonable or what? I especially love that the synthetic hairs are uber-soft and very silky on the skin. I will definitely be using the powder and blush brush for my application of my minerals, and the eyeshadow brushes are also great, vegan and eco-friendly additions to my eye brush collection.

Even long-time vegetarian and staunch animal rights activist Alicia Silverstone picks EcoTools as her favorite makeup brush long before she was asked to endorse the brushes. I am not surprised: the brushes are aesthetically pleasing, work great and are very affordable as well.

This particular set has six pieces of popular makeup brushes that will be very useful for everyday application, and the zip-up pouch would be perfect for people on the go.

This set contains an eyebrow/lash comb and brush, an eyeshadow brush, an eyeliner brush, a concealer brush and the blush brush.  They are housed in eco-friendly zip-up pouches where you can store your precious brushes, ready to whip them out of your purse or travel bag at your convenience.

As for the individual brushes, my favorites are the eyeliner and blush brushes.  I love the thin but resilient/firm hairs of the eyeliner brush.  It would be great to apply the precise line on your lashline.  It also doubles as an amazing brow brush for me.  I use a brow gel so I need firm bristles to shape and fill in my brows.  This eyeliner brush totally delivers.

The blush brush is my favorite to apply baked mineralize blushes from MAC or any pressed powder.  Its synthetic hairs pick up the product evenly and apply it smoothly on the skin without being splotchy.  I read that they have improved this brush and I am pleased with the results.

I use the concealer brush to apply emollient products- cream eye shadow bases like paint pots, concealers on my undereye area - you name it.  It is excellent in applying the cream evenly.

As for the eyeshadow brush, I use it to apply a wash on the lids.  It is multi-purpose because it can also apply concealers and paint pots because of the synthetic hairs.

Lastly, the eyebrow brush is a godsend for people with unruly brows or those who filled in their brows too dark and want to lighten it.  After I apply the brow gel, I smoothen my brows with the brush to make the eyebrow color even and to take off excess color.  It also puts the brows in place and sets the entire brow look.

The best part is that you can get the entire set for only $12.99!

You can get this set from your neighborhood ULTA and Walgreens stores.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The new version of the brush look better. The foundation brush look smaller now and their brush roller is different too. Nevertheless I still love my ecotools brush.
