MAC Pro Longwear Concealer Review

NW15, NC42

I was able to try the new MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, and this is hands-down the best MAC concealer I've tried, and one of the best ones I've used. I used to like the Studio Sculpt concealer, but I find it cumbersome to use with a separate brush and the paint pot jar. This new concealer comes in mini glass tubes with a pump which is much more convenient and sanitary than the pot. However, you have to be careful not to break the glass tubes. They look quite pretty and classy too.

I was able to try two shades of this new Pro Longwear concealer from opposite sides of the spectrum, NW15 and NC42. I am usually an NC30, but since I was sent these shades by MAC PR, I had to make do with mixing. It turned out that mixing a 1:1 ratio of these shades yielded my perfect match.

I put a drop of each concealer shade (NW15 and NC42) on my hand and started mixing. The resulting shade is my perfect match. However, two pumps or even one pump is too much for the whole face. I suggest that you get a 5 gram jar and squirt a pump or two of the concealer in it so you can use it sparingly.

50-50 mix of NW15 and NC42 blended into the skin

MY TAKE: This is the perfect partner of the Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation (review coming up!). The foundation is medium, buildable coverage, so the concealer is perfect for concealing blemishes and dark undereye circles without creating a mask for the entire face and without the foundation looking cakey. This will make dark spots, blemishes and undereye circles disappear while keeping the rest of the face looking natural and not mask-like. I love, love, love how seamless the concealer looks as it blends perfectly into the foundation. It also didn't settle into fine lines. I have a lot of acne dark spots after I had a bad bout of hormonal acne a few months back. This concealer helps to camouflage the hyperpigmentation while creating a smooth, flawless finish. Best of all, this is indeed long-wearing. I've been wearing it for 9 hours now and I only see a tiny bit of fading on my chin, but maybe it's because I'd brushed my teeth and the water must have washed off some, but my undereye area is still immaculate and intact. The finish is amazing and it doesn't look very made-up, and yet the coverage is great.

The only drawback I see is the packaging. Although I like the sanitary pump, it pumps out way too much product for one application, so I feel that the packaging is wasteful. As I had said, though, you can always pump out product in a 5-gram jar (make sure to close the lid tightly after each use) to use sparingly.

All in all, however, this is definitely holy grail status for me. I love how flawless it makes my skin look, but still looking natural. It doesn't settle into fine lines and staying power is excellent. If you want to try a concealer from MAC, ignore the rest and just get this one.

NOTE: I will be coming up with a Face Of The Day look featuring the MAC Pro Longwear SPF10 foundation and concealer this weekend so you can see how they look on the face, so stay tuned!

Oh that has really motivated me to go get it. Like you, I thought Studio Sculpt was really good, but lately I'm finding it a bit of a pain to blend. Can't wait for the foundation review!
