LIPSTICKS:

This is Part 2 of the MAC To The Beach Reviews and Swatches. The lipsticks have some interesting shades. I have tried two of them. Lazy Day is a light dirty blue pink in the lustre formula that reminded me of Blooming Lovely from the Give Me Liberty of London collection, although Lazy Day does not have grey undertones that Blooming Lovely has. It is on the cool side. However, it did not make me look washed out. It might look like it did in the pictures because of the flash, but it is pretty nice under natural light.

Lazy Day

Funbathing is a mid-tone bronzed plum in the cremesheen formula, a quite unique shade. I don't have a dupe of this lipstick because this is one of the rare times that I've encountered a bronzed plum lipstick. This is buildable. You can dab the product on your lips for a light, just-bitten lips look, or you can give some oomph to it by making it darker. In the look below, I applied Temperature Rising lip pencil and the red-orangey-bronze look was really eye-catching.

I'd thought Temperature Rising would be one of those unwearable lip liners. It is described as a "loudmouth orange", and it is indeed a loudmouth. It's really bright and looks to me like neon orange. However, be assured that your lip outline won't glow in the dark when you use this. If you blend this lip pencil with your lipstick, it becomes a pretty orange-infused lipstick that doesn't look too orange. It just lends a burst of coral energy to the lip look.

EYESHADOWS:

L-R: Firecracker, Sweet & Punchy

L-R: Firecracker, Sweet & Punchy

Firecracker is a nice frosted mid-tone red orange in the veluxe pearl formula. I didn't find this too pigmented, so that might be good or bad news depending on how you intend to use this eyeshadow. If you want a soft coral-red look without looking too garish, this might be a good option. If you want it to be more vibrant, however, I suggest using a pigmented eye base like paint pots or even foiled pigments.

I love Sweet and Punchy. It is a really bright yellow green in the veluxe pearl formula that might be similar to Bitter, but I believe this is brighter. I love yellow greens as these work as a great lid color to balance darker crease colors like hunter greens or dark browns or coppers.

Humid

Humid is part of the permanent collection, but I guess people will buy this particular item from the To The Beach collection because of the special packaging. It is an intense green with shimmer that I use on the crease and outer V to give depth to my green eye looks. This is such a staple for me when I do greens and even golds.

Shimmermoss

Shimmermoss is also from the permanent collection. I've had this for several years now, but I don't use it that often. I don't know, I am just not drawn to it. It is described as a green with green pearl, but I've always associated it with teals rather than greens.

NAIL LACQUER:

Scorcher looks tomato red in the pictures, but this is more like an intense bright coral red cream. It has more orange tones than it registers in the pics. I am on the fence about it because I don't know if the shade complements my skintone. I feel it might be a bit too warm. If a nail lacquer looks too warm against my skintone, it tends to look muddy. Application is great though, and I didn't have any problems with streaking or pooling around the cuticles. I am getting very impressed with the MAC nail lacquer formula lately. I really think it has improved.
