MAC All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Swatches and Review

I've had the chance to play with the colors of MAC All Ages, All Races, and All Sexes collection. I think a lot of the products from this collection will appeal to a lot of people because these are neutral, staple colors for everyday, and the wide range of products is also very attractive and appealing. The new impeccable brow pencils will have universal appeal as there is a shade that would suit everyone.

LIPSTICKS:

The lipstick shades are lovely, and would probably suit pale or tanned skintones well. What I didn't see is a nice good medium shade that would suit olive or medium skintones, so I am not too impressed with the color selection.

Equality is a dirty mauve with traveling pearl as described on the site. I don't know what traveling pearl means, but I tried to swatch it and it's a bit too light for my taste.

Myself
is a creamy pale yellow beige that is likewise a bit too light for me.

Empowered is a creamy mid-tone neutral brown that I'd hope contains some pink undertones but it sadly doesn't. However, it is a pretty color and if you can pull of neutral brown lipstick, this one's for you.

5N is probably the best of the bunch, a plumy sheer brown that is buildable. It can be as light or as dark depending on your application. I like to pair this with a lighter, glitening lipglass to tone down the darker pigment.

LIPGLASSES:

I like the lipglasses better than the lipsticks. Naked Frost is my favorite, a sheer taupe with silver pearl. This is a repromote, and for the life of me I can't remember if I have this in my stash. If I don't, I'd love to snag this one. Perfect for those barely-there lip looks.

Glamour For All is a sheer pale baby pink that I also like as well. I don't know but I just love the glistening nude lip look.

Liqueur is a frosted mid-tone pink brown. Another winner! Oh wow, I didn't think it would look good on my lips when I swatched it on my hand, but it morphs into a beautiful bronzey pink that is really stunning. Wearing this right now and I just love the effect.

Spirit & Soul is a frosted dark cool brown that is too cool for my taste.

EYESHADOWS:

All Races is a matte cool light mauve taupe. Would look great as a lid or crease color. However, because it is matte, I suggest a really good pigmented base like a paint pot as it might not show up on its own or with a neutral base.

Banshee is a dirty taupe with frost and sparkle diamond cluster. At first I decided to skip it because I hate the formula (lustre), but upon swatching it and seeing the finish, my heart skipped a beat. I would be getting this baby, this would be lovely as a lid color.

Cross-Cultural is a matte dark dirty yellow brown. Would work great as a bridal color. Nice basic brown for the crease and outer V, and the matte formula ensures that it's not gonna be too garish in pictures.

Show Stopper is a matte deep blackened brown that would work well as a liner, outer lid color or to smokify your eye look. Another great staple if you don't have this shade yet.

BLOT POWDER PRESSED:

Well, obviously, Medium is too light for me especially for summer and Deep Dark is way too dark. There are other shades of blot powder from the permanent collection, though. Check them out. I like blot powders because they are very light and would not cake on your face. These are obviously great for touch ups. I would suggest you use a powder brush instead of the applicator puff thingy that is included in the compact, as those things breed bacteria. A face brush is much more sanitary as you get to wash it regularly.

BEAUTY POWDER BLUSH:

I like Personal Style, a light mauve taupe. It is very unique in my collection as I don't have a beauty powder blush quite like this color. I also like that it is not too dark so I can build the color to the depth and intensity that I want.

All's Good is a cool deep rose that would look great for medium to darker skintone. I think light-skinned women can also pull this off if applied sparingly.

PIGMENTS:

(see rest of the review and swatches after the jump)

I wasn't exactly wowed by them because they are pretty basic colors and I'm sure I have similar colors in my stash. I however liked Universal Mix, a sparkly white gold that would probably have a bajillion uses. It can be a great brow highlighter, to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, to highlight the cheekbones or to mix with lotion to give a sparkly finish to the skin. I would probably get one to use as a highlighter for the brows and inner corners.

Rich Life is a dark cool brown with silver pearl. Would probably work great as a liner or crease color, but I just have way too much similar colors to be excited about this product.

IMPECCABLE BROW PENCILS, PENULTIMATE BROW MARKER AND BROW SET:

I honestly like these brow pencils. I tried a lot of brow pencils and some of them are either one of two things: (1) they're too powdery, so much so that they don't really stay long on the brows, or (2) they are too waxy, so that when you apply them on your brows, they create splotchy patches on the brows and make one area darker than the other.

Well, these new brow pencils by MAC are just right. They are not too waxy but not too powdery either. I can fill in brows without the nasty waxy residue, and yet I know it contains wax because it holds the brows in place. I used the Taupe color and I believe it's perfect for my skintone.

I have not used the Penultimate Brow Marker but I think it's pretty nifty. I just don't know how good it is when applied to the actual brow, but as you can see from the swatch above, it's not too dark so you can actually build the intensity of the marker.

The Brow Set is good for combing and styling the brows in place. I have a similar product from another brand so I wasn't that interested in this. It looks pretty good though and it would put a nice finishing touch to your groomed brows.

All in all, I believe this collection as a little something for everyone, especially since the colors are neutral and pretty universal. I would definitely recommend the Impeccable Brow Pencils, Naked Frost and Liqueur lipglasses, Universal Mix pigment, Banshee eyeshadow, and your shade of Blot Powder.

I dont know why but this collection seems warm to me and not neutral

Anonymous- I described this collection as "neutral" as opposed to "bright and flashy" colors, not really "neutral" as opposed to "cool" or "warm". When I descrined the collection as "neutral", I meant a neutral, non-flashy palette of roses, beiges, browns.
