SkinFood Mushroom BB Cream Review

Here is another review for The Shades Of U's BB cream series. SkinFood Mushroom Multi Care BB cream is one of my favorite BB creams from the ones I've tried. There are a lot of things I like about this brand. First of all, the packaging is amazing. It is housed in these beige tubes with paper sticker labels and a cardboard-covered cap, which looks so much classier (and a little more environment-friendly) than some of the other BB creams I've tried. I like the simple brown label with the gold lettering and a drawing of mushrooms in the middle. The label also says the following: "[Triple function] whitening, Anti-Aging, Sun Block". It claims to have SPF 20 sun protection and deeply moisturizes the skin with aloe and mushroom extracts, while arbutin and adenosine make skin clear and resilient.

I got the #02 shade, which is the deeper shade called "Natural". The first thing I noticed when I opened the tube was the scent. Some BB creams are unscented, but this one has a distinct scent, and it is very pleasant. In fact, I like this scented BB cream over the unscented ones. It doesn't smell of mushrooms, that's for sure, but it's not very flowery either. I can't point a finger as to the exact kind of scent it has, but I like it and it is very easy on the nose.

When blended into the skin, I can see a brightening, luminous effect, as you can see from the picture above. I applied it in 2 very light layers on the skin, topped with a light layer of Meow mineral foundation.

I really like the coverage and the staying power is pretty decent. I also like how it didn't make my skin too oily as the day wore on, unlike some of the other BB creams I've tried. In short, oil control was pretty good. I also like the brightening effect this BB cream gives.

The only downside I experienced was that, true to my experiences with the other BB creams, I broke out using this, but not as bad as the other ones I've tried. I only got a small zit on the chin after maybe three times of use. I will continue to try this and see if it still has that effect on my skin. Other than that, the finish is flawless and is basically everything I'd wanted in foundation/liquid makeup. As for its skincare claims, I have not used it consistently enough to make a conclusion. I will come up with a review if I deem it proper and if I see major skin texture improvement using this product.

Hi Aileen. I had the same experience with SF Mushroom BB cream. I broke out too. And the oil control for me isn't that good. I thought I was the only one that broke out with it. But yes,I liked the brightening effect.

OMG! I tried the samples of this on my trip back in December and I have been thinking about buying the full sized. I totally forgot about it after I returned in Jan. Can you believe it???!!! it was my first experience with BB Cream and I liked it a lot.

OK, I am going to get a tube. Thanks for an awesome review and the confirmation of it's being a good product. And you really do look great with it on!

Pammy- thanks for the heads up. I have sensitive skin so I almost always break out if I'm not using mineral makeup. A BB cream that won't break me out is probably a miracle product. lol

jojoba- wow, do try it and let us know what you think!

khymm-uh-oh, I just bought the gingko one and it's on its way to me. I hope I have good results with it. Tried the aloe variant yesterday and it was pretty good.

hi
i was wondering if the mushroom bb cream shade02 has the same colour as the missha watery bb cream?

thanks so much!

han-Missha watery is on the beige side while mushroom is a little on the yellow side. Hope that helps.

hi there!
I was wonder what bb cream is suitable for tan skin?

The Shades Of U said...

Anonymous-that's one of the great downsides to the BB creams- they don't have shades for tanned skin. :( You can probably tweak the color by layering a darker foundation or powder shade over it.
