bareMinerals Holiday 2013: Degrees of Dazzling 20-Pc Eye Shadow Set Swatches, Review

bareMinerals Degrees of Dazzling

Every year, I look forward to the entire gamut of holiday collections from bareMinerals.  This is the time when the company goes all out when it comes to holiday kits.  When I say all out, I do mean it: bareMinerals has the most number of holiday kits from one brand that I know of.  One of the best kits they have is the huge eyeshadow kit.

bareMinerals Degrees of Dazzling contains 20 eye shadows that are divided into 4 amazing finishes.  The kit has Velvets (matte), High Shines, Glimmers and Liner Shadows.  The Velvets are the mattes, the High Shines are the truly metallic ones, the Glimmers have a nice subtle sheen to them, and the Liner Shadows are just that - dark, uber-pigmented shadows that can be used as a liner or as crease/outer lid colors to create more dimension to the eye look.

Each pot of shadow is not a full-size one, but it is substantial enough that it can last a long, long while, since a little goes a long way.

This set contains:
- 0.01 oz x 5 Velvet Eyecolor in Mauve, Emerald, Lavender, Nude, Charcoal
- 0.01 oz x 5 High Shine Eyecolor in Pewter, Stay Golden, Deep Sea, Iridescent Iris, Rose Gold High
- 0.01 oz x 5 Glimmer Eyecolor in Silver Dollar, Ginger Sugar, Violent Spell, Golden Pear, Strawberry Mousse
- 0.01 oz x 5 Liner Shadow Eye Color in Black Liner, Starry Night, Toasted Espresso, Lagoon, Yoga

Here are the shadows.  They are divided according to their finishes.  Let's start with the Velvets:

A lot of people like mattes because they look better in photos and videos.  This is also the reason why I love the mattes in this kit.  They are very rich and pigmented, with the exception of Nude which just blended into my skintone.

The High Shines:

bareMinerals High Shine Eyecolor in Pewter, Stay Golden, Deep Sea, Iridescent Iris, Rose Gold High

I like this particular group because I love the metallic finish on the lid to balance the darkness of other shadows.  I especially like Pewter and Stay Golden, they are beautiful metallics that look nice on the center of the lid.  Deep Sea is an amazing-looking deep metallic blue-green, don't you think?

bareMinerals Glimmer Eyecolor in Silver Dollar, Ginger Sugar, Violet Spell, Golden Pear, Strawberry Mousse

Silver Dollar, Ginger Sugar

The Glimmer is my least favorite group  because I feel that these don't have much pigment.  They do have a shimmer that does not look metallic - just a soft sheen.  I like to use Strawberry Mousse on my browbone to highlight- it gives a nice, light pink sheen without any glitter being noticeable.

The Shadow Liners:

I love these liner shadows!  They are very pigmented, and they are great to use as liners - either wet or dry.  Dry gives a nice, softly smudged look, whereas a wet application gives an intense, crisp line -just like a liquid liner.

All in all, I am loving this kit and you can't go wrong with 20 wearable shades of eye shadows, in four different finishes.

This kit retails for $79 and is available at bareMinerals boutiques, Sephora stores and online at bareminerals.com and sephora.com.

I love bare minerals eyeshadows, despite their messy nature!
