MAC Cremesheen + Pearl Swatches and Review Part 1

I am glad to see that MAC made these lip products permanent!  Cremesheen + Pearl products are now available online, but will launch in stores tomorrow, August 8th, for $19.50 each. The shades are all asian-inspired, and are aptly light and sheer especially the cremesheen glasses, which are infused with crushed pearl.

Let's start with the Cremesheen Glass. As I mentioned in previous reviews, the cremesheen glasses are sheer and less sticky than your regular lipglass. They are sheer mostly because the formula is different from that of the lipglass, it is less sticky and more comfortable on the lips than the lipglass. If you don't like sticky glosses, the Cremesheen glass is the one for you. The fact that MAC created complementary shades of the cremesheen glass to wear in tandem with the lipsticks in this collection meant that MAC really intended these to be layering glosses- not really to be worn alone if you like pigmented lips - but to create a luscious look by layering over a lipstick. Or, if you really don't care for pigmentation especially for the lighter cremesheen glasses, you can wear these alone for a shiny lip look. Staying power of these cremesheen glasses is not that amazing- mostly just 2-3 hours tops, and that is if I am not going to have a meal. The good thing about this product is that it is very comfortable on the lips so I don't mind having to re-apply throughout the day.

I like that these cremesheen glasses are not straight creams but have light-reflecting pearl in them. They make the lips look more luscious and add dimension to the lip look. Imperial Light is my favorite, a beautiful frosted light peach. Pagoda is a frosted cool pink that is sheer, of course, just like the other cremesheen glasses. I also like the soft neutral pink which is Dynasty at Dusk, and the pearl infused in it makes this a really lovely color.

Lipsticks:

The lipsticks in this collection are also cremesheen in formula, but are also infused with pearl. It makes the lips look shinier and more luscious. Japanese Maple is a frosted light beige which is too light for my pigmented lips when used alone. I have a too use a warmer lipliner or lipglass on top of it to make it look wearable. Coral Bliss is my favorite, a beautiful light coral with pearl. Finally, Saigon Simmer is a frosted bright orange that reminds me of a tamer and lighter version of Watch Me Simmer.

All in all, I am liking the nice, wearable shades in this collection. Since they are asian-inspired names (and I believe shades), I think these will look good on most asian skin types, or light to medium-tan skintones. I think these are also suited for darker complexions if they prefer light or sheer lipsticks and glosses. If you like bright and pigmented colors with no shimmer, then this collection is obviously not for you. I am loving light, pearl-infused lip shades for everyday wear, so this is right up my alley.

Cremesheen Glass Pros: comfortable on the lips, lightweight and non-tacky, beautiful sheer shades infused with pearl
Cremesheen Glass Cons: staying power is not that good, not a good choice if you are looking for pigmented lipglosses

Cremesheen lipstick Pros: smooth formula, nice pigmented colors, good choice for people who love pearl in lipsticks
Cremesheen lipstick Cons: not a good choice for people who don't like the slightest frost finish.

I will be coming up with swatches of all the colors, plus lip swatches of these products, so stay tuned for Part 2!
