Zoya NYFW 2012 Gloss Collection Swatches and Review

Here is the final installment of my Zoya NYFW 2012 Collection Series. I already posted my swatches and review of the Zoya Designer and Zoya Diva collections. Today we talk about this mini-collection of sheer jelly polishes called Zoya Gloss.

These trio of polishes come in this really squishy, very jell-o-like finish. They are sheer and very buildable. I have not been a real fan of jelly polishes because I've always loved creams, but when I tried this trio, the finish really impressed me. These polishes can also be great top coats over creams if you want a jelly-like finish. They also have a noticeable gradient effect, with a lighter shade at the top of the nail going darker at the tips. So pretty!

As I took photos of my swatches, however, I noticed that they seem to look blurry or fuzzy in direct sunlight. Maybe the glare doesn't work well with jellies? Anyways, here are some photos of the swatches under direct sunlight and under shade.

Paloma

Paloma is a sheer berry jelly. Not my most favorite out of the three, but if you like berry jellies, this is for you.

Frida

Frida is a pretty teal sheer jelly with a buildable finish. You can add coats until you get the desired opacity. As I said, it has a gradient finish (at least on my nails), so I can see a darker shade on my tips as compared to the top of the nailbed.

Katherine

Katherine is a nice dark aubergine jelly. The shade is apt for a jelly finish. For some reason, this reminds me of a plum-colored hard candy or lollipop.

All in all, I am really liking this collection. The super-squishy jelly finish makes me want to apply these polishes over all of my manis. For some odd reason, I am liking the gradient look as well. The finish is all about a matter of preference. You either love or loathe jelly finishes. I used to not like it, but for some reason, there is a very squishy effect about these polishes that is quite attractive, at least for me. The collection is now available on www.Zoya.com.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.0 out of 5
