Nicole by OPI Sophisti-cuties mini pack: My Empire Rules, Follow Me On Glitter, Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam, Hard-Kourt Fashionista

I would have to admit that I stayed away from Nicole by OPI because I was never a fan of the bottle shape. I also am not a fan of the Kardashians so I did not even look at the Kardashian Kolors. However, if you are like me who is a bit skeptical about the collection, you might want to try them in tiny bottles first before you commit to the full sizes - yes, they finally have mini sets! Nicole by OPI announces the launch of Kardashian Kolor Pretty Petites, two mini packs each offering four bestselling Kardashian Kolor nail lacquers. The first set Celeb-bities features shiny, sparkly shades in feminine pink and red hues. The second set Sophisti-cuties provides an earth-toned palette of green, brown and gray glitters and crèmes.

Here are some swatches and my thoughts on these:

Celeb-bitties Mini Set:

All Kendall-ed Up

I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised with All Kendall-ed Up. It looks like your typical Barbie pink, but the formula was amazing. It was the perfect consistency, neither too thick nor too runny, and glided like a dream on my nailbeds. It was easily opaque in two coats, and virtually applied itself.

Kim-pletely In Love

Kim-pletely in Love is the prettiest sheer light whitish pink with tiny sparkles. However, it looks so sheer that it doesn't look nice without "underwear", or a base lacquer, at least on me. I would use a ridge filler for this or a sheer white like OPI Don't Touch My Tutu prior to applying Kim-pletely In Love for a really nice finish.

Sealed With a Kris

Sealed With a Kris is like a wine red creme. It is nice but not my favorite. I also have a lot of similar shades.

Wear Something Spar-Kylie

Such a pretty glitter polish! Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a very girly looking clear base with lots of pink micro-glitter. I like that the glitter is fine and small, and not chunky. The size makes this lacquer wearable and not too over-the-top.

Sophisti-Cuties mini-pack:

My Empire...My Rules

I have gotten sick of taupes this past year or so, when we've seen a deluge of taupes from most brands. This particular taupe is very attractive to me, though. My Empire...My Rules is a cool taupe; I don't see much brown in it. It's almost a grey shade and I am really liking this.

Follow Me On Glitter

I really like these kinds of glitters. They are very fine that they actually look like one entire seamless polish shade from afar. Follow Me On Glitter is actually a silver and black glitter with multi-colored hex glitter (blue, yellow, red, green). I love this, so fun and edgy at the same time.

Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam

I really like the shade of Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam- it's a dark teal or emerald green that is beautiful, and the formula is as great as the other cremes in this collection. However, I think that the shade is too dark for summer. Reserving this for fall!

Hard-Kourt Fashionista

Hard-Kourt Fashionista is a dark chocolate brown, but I see a hint of wine shade. My comment is the same as Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam: pretty, but too dark for summer for me.

All in all, I am loving the formula of Nicole by OPI. I never owned a Nicole before, and I am glad I do now. The cremes glide even better than the regular OPIs in my experience. My favorites are definitely All Kendall-ed Up, Kim-pletely In Love, My Empire...My Rules, and Follow Me on Glitter. I am really pleasantly surprised about the formula. Moral lesson: Don't judge a nail polish by its bottle shape!

These Pretty Petites mini-sets will be available July 2012 for $10 each at Duane Reade, H-E-Butt, Fred Meyer, Meijer, Rite Aid, Sears and ULTA. In Canada, each set will be available for $15 at Katz Group, Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart, select Sears locations, and Walmart Canada.
