TATCHA Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream Review

Hi everyone! For those in the U.S., I hope you're having a fab holiday! This is a first of a series of reviews on TATCHA Skincare. The TATCHA ritual is derived from three centuries of geisha tradition. For centuries, geishas have perfected the art of beautiful skin. This Japanese skincare line aims to recreate the geisha skincare ritual for the modern woman.

According to their website, they explored scientific journals, unearthed historical archives and studied the ageless beauty rituals of the iconic geisha to shed light on a highly evolved approach to beauty. TATCHA rediscovered their coveted daily regimes in a 200-year-old manuscript, written in the twilight of Japan’s Edo Period. Patterned after these ancient rituals, TATCHA uses green teas, Okinawa red algae, rice bran and other time-tested ingredients for their products.

I was able to try some of TATCHA's best-selling products, but the star of their line I believe is the Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream, and that is why I am reviewing this product first.

Let me say that contrary to what I first thought, this is not a rich cream. It is very moisturizing but weightless, because it is more of like a liquid-gel and not a heavy cream. It contains liquid silk, squalane, royal jelly + HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex.

Active Ingredients:

Squalane (Olive extract), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ Oil, Inositol (Rice Derivative), Sericin (Silk Protein), Algae Extract, Thymus Serpillum (Wild Thyme) Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Royal Jelly Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin (Soy Derivative), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract

Formulated Without:

Mineral Oil, Synthetic fragrances, Sulfate Detergents, Parabens, PEGs, PPGs, Urea, DEA, TEA or Phthalates

It feels a little cool on the skin upon contact, so it feels refreshing. The slip is similar to the other gel moisturizers I've tried in the past. However, the scent is relaxing; it reminds of trips to the spa - very zen-ish. This is a great product for my combination skin because it moisturizes without the heavy and greasy feeling. This is also perfect for summer when you need a lighter moisturizer in feel, but still moisturizes adequately.

This has been dermatologist-tested and non-irritating as well as non-sensitizing. I have acne-prone skin and I am glad to say that this has never broken me out. This is also great for hot and/or humid climates when you can't stand any sticky or greasy product on your skin.

The only downside is the price. It retails for $150 for 1.7 oz or 50 ml. It is bigger than your standard 1 oz of cream, though, and I believe you can purchase a sampler kit to test out the product. For $49 you get the following:

- PURE Camellia One Step Cleansing Oil - 15ml | 0.5oz
- POLISHED Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- POLISHED Classic Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- POLISHED Deep Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum - 15ml | 0.5oz
- SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream - 10ml | 0.3oz
+PETAL FRESH Original Japanese Beauty Papers - 1 full sized pack | 30 sheets

All in all, I am impressed with this product, and as I said, it is perfect for my combination skin during this intense summer, as it is lightweight in feel but moisturizes adequately. You can check out the TATCHA skincare line at www.tatcha.com.
