Stila Smudge Crayon Waterproof Primer, Shadow and Liner in Rose Review

Stila Smudge Crayon Waterproof Liner + Shadow + Liner in Rose

I am nitpicky about my eye primers. Not only do they have to be able to prevent creasing and fading throughout the day, they also have to match my eye shadows too. Plus they have to be a base with a certain texture for my powder shadows to adhere to (tacky for the shadows but with no tacky feel). The Stila Smudge Crayon Waterproof liner (and yes, shadow and liner too) fulfills these requirements.

The Smudge Crayon is a cousin of the Smudge Stick pencil. As I said, it can be a primer, shadow and liner as well. The reason it's called "Smudge Crayon" is that it allows to you to smudge it before it sets. It is a cream-to-powder formula that dries in a creamy finish.

Smudge Crayon in Rose

I am very pleased with this product. It does not tug at the lids but glides like a dream. It has soothing emollients like Vitamin E and aloe, so what's not to like? Anyways, I use my Smudge Crayon in Rose as my eyeshadow primer for neutral powder shadow looks. Or, you can even use this as a shadow by itself. It is a nice rosey-champagne shade that perks up the lid area and makes it look awake.

As a primer, I experienced 8 hours of wear with no creasing and fading. I have not tried it while swimming (or crying) so I can't say much about Stila's claims of it being waterproof. A follow-up review is in order then.

They have more shades of the Smudge Crayon so I want to get Kitten and some of the darker shades so they can also double as a liner.

All in all, I am liking this product and is my favorite eye shadow primer nowadays. It retails for $22 and is available at ULTA, stilacosmetics.com and Sephora stores nationwide.
