Pixi Ultimate Beauty Kit Swatches and Review

It was my first time to try a Pixi Cosmetics product.  It is a brand that I always see at Target, and I've been curious about it because I like the very green (literally and figuratively) packaging.  It's definitely eco-friendly in the green cardboard containers.  I was quite excited to try out Pixi's huge palette called The Ultimate Beauty Kit.  It is a square palette with two wings that fold neatly into the center which is great for travel.  Each wing carries a 16-eyeshadow-palette.  The right wing holds 16 full-size cool-toned shadows, while the left wing houses 16 warm-toned shadows.  The center holds 16 shades of lip glosses and 8 different shades of cheek products that can act as blush, highlighter, or bronzer.  These all retail for $39.99 which is such a steal.

Can you see how gorgeous the shades are?  They are full-sizes, some have tiny shimmer particles that look great especially for the holidays, and look finely-milled.  However, we all know that the ultimate test is how these shades look like swatched on the skin, right?

As you can see, the shades are very pigmented and smooth. I love the matte eye shadows, they are so rich and saturated! The shimmery ones also apply smoothly on the skin and are also pretty pigmented. I tried the white matte highlighter on the browbone, and I had to take a clean brush to blend and take out some of the product as it was too white. It was that pigmented!

I tried the shadows for a couple of looks, and I am liking them. They apply and blend well on the skin, and with a good base, they last pretty long as well. The only thing I would be careful about is the fall-out. Because these shadows are quite pigmented, the product itself is soft and crumbles easily, so you need to be a bit careful. Have a big brush ready or clean washcloth to wipe off fall-out under the eye.

The lipglosses have amazing luscious shine. They are not super pigmented, but I guess they are meant to be layered over lipsticks if you like color. They are not super-sheer, though; they still lend color to the lips. If you want a natural lip but with great shine, these lipglosses are for you.

All in all, I think this palette gives you more bang for your buck compared to other palettes I've seen and tried. Most of the palettes (and mostly just eyeshadow palettes) retail for at least $50, while the Pixi Ultimate Beauty Kit has 32 pigmented eyeshadows (wow!), 8 cheek products and 16 glosses for only $39.99. Great deal, if you ask me.

I will be coming up with a look featuring this kit in the next week or so. Lately I've been using it every day and I'm really liking it.
