Dermelect Cosmeceuticals Resurface Stem Cell Reconstructuring Serum Review

I've had the chance to try the Dermelect Cosmeceuticals Resurface Stem Cell Reconstructuring Serum. Quite a mouthful, isn't it? It's one of the company's most popular products. The active ingredient in this product is extracted from stem cells of the Alpine Rose, to help fight environmental stress and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

The company explains why they chose the alpine rose for this innovative anti-aging product:

The Alpine Rose: Defying the odds, the Swiss Alpine Rose is an anomaly that grows remarkably beautiful while being exposed to the most unfavorable of conditions: mile high altitude, extreme dryness, severe cold and an intense sun/UV index. Usually, roses are known to oxidize quickly once picked and exposed to the environment. The Alpine Rose has an amazing extended life span of up to 100 years. The key to its unlikely longevity lays chiefly in its unusually resilient stem cells.

Stem cells in plants function much as they do in people. Their job is to maintain and repair tissue. Adult human skin stem cells have a limited life span as aging and environmental assaults decrease their number and their ability to regenerate tissue. Plant stem cell extracts have been proven to protect skin from UV oxidative stress and inhibit inflammation. It can also control metaloproteinase activation (skin discoloration), collagen loss and tissue damage while combating destructive free radicals that lead to photo-aging.

Dermelect Stem Cell treatments help maintain the rose stem cells characteristics to help protect the skin from UV stress, prevent the formation of wrinkles while reducing the look of fine lines and creases.

Via the rose stem cells, this product aims to boost facial skin stem cell activity, to stimulate the skin's protein production, and to neutralize the environmental free radicals and stressors that threaten it.

My Take: The packaging is pretty nifty, I must say. It comes in this sleek silver pump with white lettering and an image of a rose in front. Overall look of the packaging is quite luxurious. I also like the pump because it keeps the product sanitary.

One pump is enough for the entire face. What I like about this product that it is also my Vitamin C serum, which we know is essential for skincare regimen as it is an antioxidant that complements the skin's natural healing ability. This product is also formulated with EcoSkin, a stimulator of skin’s natural defense mechanisms.

The texture was a bit odd at first. It felt slick on the skin, somewhat slimy. I thought it would just sit on top of the skin because of the unusual texture. However, I waited for a couple of minutes and it does seem to get absorbed into the skin. I use this every night right after cleansing, and before application of my retinoids and moisturizer.

I have been using this product for about six weeks now. I don't have creases or deep wrinkles in the skin yet, so I cannot speak about the company's claims of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and preventing the same. However, I did notice that my skin has this certain luminosity that it didn't have before. It has a nice, subtle radiance that I really appreciate. What I also like about this product is that it never broke me out, and my skin is really acne-prone. Two thumbs up for that!

This product claims that it can protect the skin from environmental stress that dries out the skin and accelerates aging. I cannot vouch for this claim, but I do like the certain radiance my skin has of late. The product retails for $75 for 1 oz. of product, and it is available at Dermelect.com
