Illamasqua Magenta Muse Collection Part 4: Nail Varnish Swatches and Review

Here is the last installment of my Illamasqua Magenta Muse Collection series. This time, we're focusing on the nail varnishes. I have a ton of nail polishes, but like I've said in the past, Illamasqua holds a special place in my stash. Their nail varnishes are creamy, applies well, and the colors are perfectly saturated and vibrant. Here are six polishes that are part of the Magenta Muse collection - from pastels to bright neons to dark, foreboding fall colors. Here they are:

Lament

Lament

This is a very pretty bright coral pink cream. Very glossy finish and this looks more summery than fall-ish. I like that it is a bordering on being a neon but is softer than a true neon. Very fun and feminine.

DWS

DWS

DWS is a cement grey cream. It also has that glossy finish that's quite mesmerizing. This is not a very unique shade but I think it's still lovely.

Jo'Mina

Jo'Mina

This is a refreshing pastel lilac cream. Again, not very unique, but I love purples and lilacs, so this is right up my alley. The formula is also the reason why this is one of my favorite lavenders.

Poke

Poke

Poke is a bright violet purple shimmer. If you're a purple fan like me, you'll love this. I would've liked it more if it were a cream or with a glossy finish instead of a shimmery one, but this is okay. It has a sheer curtain of silver shimmer that adds character to it.

Muse

Muse

This is my absolute favorite. When I saw all the varnishes from this collection, I was immediately drawn to Muse and had to wear it that day. It is a deap teal blue, or peacock blue with a glossy cream finish. The formula was a bit thicker than I expected, but it was surprisingly easy to control with the said consistency.

Scorn

Scorn

A matte black. I am not a fan of matte polishes, nor am I a fan of black polish. But it is admittedly mesmerizing. Looks like shiny black leather on my nails. I will not be wearing this on its own. I am thinking of using a silver Konad image on this.

All in all, this group of nail varnishes has something for everyone - for those who like bright, daring colors and others who prefer muted pastels, as well as for those rocker chicks that like matte dark polish. Quality of the product is very good, colors are varied, saturated and vivid. The price is a bit steep at $14 a pop, but you do get what you pay for.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The Magenta Muse collection is available June 14, 2011 in the U.S. at select Sephora stores and on Sephora.com
