New 24 NYX Round Lipstick Shades:

Swatches and review after the jump

I posted my review and swatches of some NYX round lipsticks, but NYX just came up with 24 new shades for summer 2011. I was able to try five of these shades. Here are some of my thoughts:

Top: Gala, Muse, Haute Couture
Bottom: Paparazzi, Shiva

First of all, the lipsticks arrived in a rather soft condition, considering that the package was placed in an air-conditioned room as soon as it was delivered. That said, I don't think these will fare well in very warm climates especially during summer. It wasn't even a very hot day when it was delivered. In fact, some of the NYX lipsticks that I have are so deformed because they were just too soft that it became too messy and cumbersome to even use them, even though they were kept in room temperature. The only solution I can think off is to permanently store them in the fridge.

Anyways, as always, they apply smooth, very creamy and they don't irritate or cause any allergic reaction to my lips. They don't dry out my lips either, but I always use lip balm underneath anyway. I also love the absence of any scent or nasty taste.

However, I was just surprised that the price of this product went up 50% from the last time I bought them. Even then, at $4 a pop, the NYX round lipstick is still one of the most affordable, quality lipsticks in the market.

The new colors are cool for summer. I picked the pink and bright fuchsia ones because I don't own many bright NYX lippies. Gala is a light pink that reminds me of Rimmel's Airy Fairy (although I have not swatched them side by side yet). I was a bit disappointed in Muse because it looked frosty on my skin. I LOVE Haute Couture, a berry shade that looks great on my skintone. Paparazzi is a nice mid-tone pink, while Shiva is a really pretty hot fuchsia. These are creams in texture and formula, with the exception of Muse which is more of a frost to my eyes.

Pros: affordable price, creamy finish, good pigmentation, glides easily and smoothly on the skin, wide variety of shades to choose from

Cons: very soft, melts easily

Note: Media samples were provided by a representative of the company for consideration. All opinions are completely mine.
