Green Eye Look and Tutorial Using MAC Wonder Woman Valiant Quad

Here is a look featuring many of the products from the MAC Wonder Woman collection. I'd thought at first that I wouldn't love this green palette Valiant, but surprisingly, I did. I love the refreshing greens of this palette - they're more olives and forest green than a true green. And I can't stress enough that greens look amazing on brown eyes.

I used the middle strip in Golden Lariat MSF to contour and as a bronzer.

I used the top strip of Pink Power MSF to highlight the cheekbones.

I used Mighty Aphrodite blush (blend of both sides).

I used Marquise D' lipstick.

I used Emancipation lipglass on top of Marquise D'.

Here's a step-by-step. All eye products MAC unless otherwise noted.

Apply Urban Decay in Sin primer potion all over lid and lower lashline. Using a fluffy shader brush, apply MAC paint pot in Cash Flow on lid.

Using the Charm Pro shader brush or a MAC 239 brush, apply Valiant on lid using patting motions.

Using the Sonia Kashuk blender brush, apply Spinning Transformation on the crease. Blend harsh edges using the MAC 224 brush.

Like so.

Using the same brush, apply Diana Undercover on the outer lid.

Blend harsh edges with the 224. Using the same SK brush, apply more Diana Undercover and Spinning Transformation on the crease, blending everything with the 224.

Using the Stila No. 5 brush, apply Manila Paper on browbone to highlight.

Apply L'Oreal Lineur Intense black liquid liner on upper lashline.

Using a Coastal Scents' lip brush, apply Valiant on inner lower lashline and Spinning Transformation on outer lower lashline. Tightline using Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on liner in Zero. Apply Stila kajal liner in Topaz on waterline. Apply Cosmos Human Hair falsies (review of this false lashes coming up!). Apply mascara.

Aww thanks Anna and jezzhae! I think greens are really my color, and the quad was quite easy to work with.

I always love your tutorials. I can't tell you how much you have and continue to teach me about make up application and combining colors for different skin colors. I don't think I have ever seen you look anything but beautiful in any make up but these particular colors look absolutely fabulous on you. I do have a few questions to ask you about some of the stages in the make up application but I'll have to save that till later when I have more time. The only criticism I have, if you could call it a criticism, is I'm not quite sure you need all the products you used to achieve the same look. For example, the Stila Topaz pencil. I think sometimes it becomes way too costly to follow your directions to the tee including all the many make up brushes you use and some products like the Loreal eyeliner, which I think can be replaced by any great black eyeliner like MAC's engraved or Stila waterproof black eyeliner or one of the many other great black eyeliners (urban decay zero) on the market now. Maybe you could give a few alternatives to the products you use only slightly (aside from the products you are highlighting that day, such as the MAC palette, blushes, lipstick and lipgloss)When you have someone like me, who is a not a very experienced person in applying make up, I tend to follow your directions to the tee and if I don't have a particular item that you use, I feel as if I won't be able to achieve the same look. That's why I hope you will consider giving alternatives to which brushes you use and to collateral products you use only slightly that, if ommitted or replaced, will NOT change the final look that we strive to achieve. You're the best and thank you for helping people like me, who would have to pay a fortune for what you teach on your blog. Thanks again and many blessings. Warm Regards, Diane

Diane, I think that instead of following the instructions to the letter, you could draw inspiration from the tutorial. Find the closest thing to whatever was featured that you have in your collection to replicate a look, you don't have to run out to buy that very product just to get the same results. There are no rules in makeup and no such thing as the one and only product to achieve certain results. There are thousands of similar products out there, and some will work awesome for you but not for others. I think it makes more sense for you to look at the instructions in a tutorial and loosely follow them, and eventually you'll start developing your own way of applying makeup with products that you like or already have. It's trial and error, and even if you think it's going to make you look ugly, it's only for a day- you can always wash it off. I hope this helps you. In my experience, be it in makeup or in academics, you learn better and quicker when you experiment on your own, than when you follow someone else's instructions word by word because you'll just end up forgetting what you did if you took away the instructions.

Diane- I agree with Sylvie in a sense that makeup application is an art and not an exact science where you need to follow all steps to the letter for you to achieve a similar effect. You can tweak the steps and apply your own interpretation of the makeup. However, I will try my best to suggest alternatives. Thank you for the constructive criticism and for your kind words and compliments; they make me strive to produce better content and tutorials for readers like you. I intend to kick this blog up a notch soon so watch out for it. :)

Sylvie- Thank you for voicing out my thoughts, and for being a reader/follower for a long time. Thanks for your support, I appreciate it!
