MAC Prep For Colour Collection Swatches and Reviews

This is a tiny fringe collection from MAC. The colour story for this collection is bright, even skintone, flawless face, neutral eyes and juicy pink lips. This is just a minor collection but I love the shades and the products because it bespeaks of beautiful, glowing skin as the main feature. Let's start with the colour collection.

EYESHADOWS:

I think Hey is going to be one of my favorite neutral lid colors from MAC. It is very pigmented and I love the Veluxe Pearl finish. It is a warm mid-tone beige that is going to be perfect as a neutral lid color or for those days when you just want a shimmery wash on the lids to make the eyes look more awake and fresh. I compared Hey with other similar-colored MAC shadows in my stash:

In the photo above, you can see that Hey is a little more subdued than the very shimmery Grand Entrance and All That Glitters. They are all in the same color family, however, albeit Hey is lighter than All That Glitters.

Sorcery is a blackened burgundy that first came up from the Holiday 2009 Magic, Mirth and Mischief Colour Collection. It is a satin in finish and would make a nice crease or outer lid color.

LIPGLASS:

I really love Just Add Colour. This is a very pretty sparkly fuchsia pink that is quite feminine and spring-y. The high-watt shine really gives the lips a luscious look. This is also very pigmented; I didn't have to add a lipstick underneath to make the color pop. Just add neutral eyeshadows, light bronzer or blush with this lipglass and you're good to go.

PREP + PRIME SKIN BRIGHTENING SERUM

I have not tried this on the face yet but MAC claims that it evens out the skintone and brightens the complexion. I will follow up with a review and a look using this serum on my face. Here's how it looks like on the skin:

pumped out a small blob

spread on the skin

It is a color-less serum that feels cool to the touch, and it spread easily on the skin. I am excited to try this out on my face and will update this blog with my thoughts and a look using this.

All in all, the MAC Prep For Colour has the right balance of products paying attention to both skincare and eye/lip colours. I sometimes have uneven skintone so I am excited to use the Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum. Hey would be a great everyday eyeshadow, and if you love pinks and fuchsias, Just Add Colour is the lipglass for you.

After seeing swatches, I'm increasingly convinced that Hey is the same Hey that was in Fafi quad 1 (the only colour that I kept from this quad after I depotted it, and only colour I ever hit pan on!) I'm considering buying it when this collection is released, but I wonder if it's really that unique. Life is too short for backups =P (except when it comes to Port Red).

I'm definitely looking forward to your review on the brightening serum!

Sylvie- will try the serum this weekend and will let you know!

Phyrra- thanks girl! I'm loving the lipglass too - it's one of my favorite MAC fuchsia lipglasses.

Chibu74- the pic above was taken when the serum wasn't all that dry yet, but when it dried, it was just like I didn't put anything. So now, it's not greasy at all. Will update the review when I try it on the face.
