A Grey Look Using MAC and Aromaleigh Eye Shadows

I was pretty excited to use my MAC greys because I have not used these in a while. I love MAC's greys. They are pigmented and smooth and they don't make my eyes look like I was punched in the face. I also tried to use it lightly because I was going out but not to go clubbing.  It was just a simple event with friends and I didn't want to look over-the-top.

I also used this lovely Aromaleigh mineral shadow in Basil. It's a kind of silver-grey with some taupe/beige thrown into the mix that is so pretty. It reminds me of a darker version of MAC Arctic Grey because of its complex nuances. This is my favorite Aromaleigh grey shadow.

Of course, to come up with a pigmented eye look, you have to have a good base. I used my favorite base for smokey eyes, my Benefit Creaseless Cream Liner/Shadow in Skinny Jeans, an amazing pewter color that really makes the loose pigments adhere to my lid and create a beautiful base for them.

I am all about layering these days. I tried to layer these two lipsticks from MAC Riveting collection and I was riveted! I layered Metal Maven over Riveting lipstick and I was really amazed at how nice the combination was. I used these two for this look.

Here's a step-by-step. All eye products MAC unless othewise specified.

Apply Urban Decay primer potion all over lid, browbone and lower lashline. Using a fluffy shader brush, apply Benefit Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Skinny Jeans on lid.

Using a stiff shader brush like the 239, apply Aromaleigh eyeshadow in Basil foiled using Fix+ (see the nice nuances?).

Another angle

Using Sonia Kashuk blender brush, apply Swan Lake on outer V.

Using the same brush, create depth by applying Silver Ring on the crease.

Blend with the 224 brush.

Using Sonia Kashuk blender brush, apply Knight Divine on outer V and crease. Blend all colors together using the 224.

Apply Pincurl on the browbone using Stila No. 5 brush, and on inner corners using a small detail brush. Line upper lashline using L'oreal Lineur Intense liquid liner (brush tip).

Using a small detail brush (I used Coastal Scents' lip brush, a flat, stiff taklon brush), apply Aromaleigh Basil on lower lashline (make it a little damp using Fix+ to make it adhere to the skin). Using the same brush, apply Knight Divine on outer lower lashline. Rim eyes (tightline and waterline) using Engraved power point pencil. Apply Red Cherry falsies #66. Apply mascara.

I really like how you diffused the edges of the shadow color around your eyes.

Dude, this is so pretty :) I never thought I could wear grey without looking sick or something, but I'm definitely going to try it out now.
