MAC New View: Mineralize Skinfinish Duo

Imagine the marriage of two textures of the MAC skinfinishes we've grown to love: the natural and the shimmery. The best of both worlds are combined in this amazing duo - one has a matte finish but provides a smooth, creamy finish to your face, and the other one works as a highlighter for your cheekbones, browbones, or anywhere you need a subtle glow - yup, even the decolletage.

I've just posted my MAC collection a few entries down, and you can see that I am a mineralize skinfinish (MSF) collector. However, I've never owned the natural skinfinish until now. This weekend, I just casually strolled into my neighborhood MAC store and there was this really hot MA (I talked about him a few entries ago as well) helped me try out a few products. Hot-rock-star-slash-MAC-makeup-artist applied the New View duo in Medium Dark on me, and my jaw literally dropped when I saw my reflection in the mirror. My face just looked radiant, creamy, softly luminous but definitely not shiny or greasy. It can be a pretty substitute to any of the finishing powders I use, because it gives just a beautiful instant polish to any look. I also believe the highlight side of this particular duo is the best among all the New View duos. It gives a gorgeous peachy-gold sheen to the skin, and on my cheekbones, it was a winner. I read that some lighter-skinned ladies can wear this highlighter as a blush as well, and the natural skinfinish can be used as their contour powder. I think this would be a tad dark on me when winter comes, but right now it's just the perfect summer shade on me. A tad too dark in the swatch, but applied with a fluffy brush it comes out really natural and not dark at all.

Some of you might be wondering what the matte MSF is for. It can be a finishing/setting powder for your mineral or liquid foundation, or it can pretty much be used by itself, as I see some ladies do, especially now during summer time when they want something as light as air on their skin.

If you've never owned a MAC natural MSF before, I highly recommend that you get the duo from New View as you get two beautiful products in one compact. I like that it's not an "either-or" product for me, I immensely love BOTH the matte and highlighter in this duo.

Do you think that both products can be swirled together and applied all over the face, or would the look be too shimmery?

the collector- nah, I think it would look too shimmery. The highlighter is really just for those areas you want to stand out, like your cheekbones.

Patty- go get it, I know you'd love this.
